Wilmington, OH – May 22, 2017 – The ninth annual Clinton County Leadership Institute’s (CCLI) Dinner in the Fields will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017, beginning at 5:30 P.M. This year, Dinner in the Fields will be held on the farm of David, Susan, Brooke and Madgeann Beam, located at 885 Spencer Road, Sabina.

Event Co-Chair Patti Settlemyre said “Showcasing the best of Clinton County grown and prepared foods, Dinner in the Fields is sure to tantalize taste buds and provide quality, family-friendly entertainment for all ages to celebrate the beginning of harvest. Guests will be able to taste local gastronomy from the various Clinton County farms. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase Ohio wines by the glass to accompany their meal. A full meal, cooked on the farm, will feature sweet corn, pork, chicken, fresh vegetables, breads, and more. While homemade ice cream is included with dinner, remember to save room for the delicacies available at the dessert auction following the conclusion of the meal.”

“My family and I are looking forward to hosting Dinner in the Fields and showcasing Clinton County’s agricultural history,” said Brooke Beam, who is the seventh-generation in her family to be an Ohio farmer. The beam family will be showcasing 16 MM home videos of the family’s farm and Clinton County from the early 1950s, demonstrating how Clinton County agriculture had changed over the decades. The Beam’s farm is located in Wilson Township, situated atop the glacial moraine, will provide guests with sweeping views of cropland.

The event is planned, prepared, and served by volunteers. “Our volunteers always amaze us with the wonderful treats we get for this,” according to Kim Danker, who is coordinating the Dessert Auction. “We are looking forward to another great batch of desserts.”

“We have many repeat volunteers for this year’s event, so we know dinner will be great,” said Dinner in the Fields Co-Chair Bill Liermann. “Additionally, we have some new groups involved in preparing appetizers and sourcing some of our local food supplies. We are looking forward to a large crowd for this fundraiser for the Clinton County Leadership Institute which tends to bring is quite a few people from outside of the county.”

Music, entertainment, and games for all ages will be available throughout the evening. A tent will provide additional shade for the dining area. Tables and chairs are provided, however, guests may feel free to bring their own blankets or chairs.
